Ada Turturro is an American actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Janice Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos.
After high school, Turturro earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Studies from SUNY New Paltz. Ada Turturro attended Seward Park High School on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, where she grew up and lived. In 1989, Turturro starred in her first film “True Love”. She starred in How’s Bob? , “Jersey Girl” and “Illuminata.” Turturro also holds small stakes in Sleepers and Deep Blue Sea.
She also appeared in the 2005 film Romance and Cigarettes, directed by her cousin John Turturro. She also appeared in “The Money Train.” Turturro played Janice Soprano in 49 episodes of The Sopranos from 2000 to 2007, and was nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2001 and 2007.
In 2009, Turturro appeared on the sixth season of the CBS series Medium, “Bite Me,” playing the villainous Bobbi Catalano. Turturro appears in the episode “Car Periscope” in the eighth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
In 2012, Turturro appeared on the “Nurse Jackie” episode “Iguana Day,” reuniting with her “The Sopranos” co-star Edie Falco. She plays the protagonist’s lawyer, Laura Vargas. In 2013, Turturro appeared in the “Drawing Dead” episode of the fourth season of “Blue Bloods”. Since 2013, she has guest-starred as Judge Felicia Catano on multiple episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims.
