Alvin YEO, Senior Legal Counsel, is the Chairman and Senior Partner of WongPartnership LLP. He was appointed Senior Barrister to the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2000, at the age of 37, the youngest appointment ever. His main practice areas are litigation and arbitration in banking, corporate/commercial and infrastructure disputes.

Alvin graduated from King’s College London, University of London. He was admitted to the British Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1987 and the Singapore Bar in 1988.

Alvin is a member of the SIAC Court, ICC Committee and Fellow of the Asian Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Directors, and a former member of the LCIA Court and IBA Arbitration Committee. He is also a member of the arbitration panels of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, the Korea Commercial Arbitration Commission, the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration and the Singapore Association of Sports Arbitrators.

Alvin has served on a number of public committees that have conducted comprehensive reviews of the legal services sector. He is a member of the Singapore Medical Council and the Supreme Court Disciplinary Court Chairman’s Panel, the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Appeal Advisory Panel and the Council of the National University of Singapore Centre for International Law.

Alwyn was an elected MP from 2006 to 2015, during which time he was appointed Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Government’s Parliamentary Home and Judiciary Committee on a number of occasions. He is also an independent director of several listed companies in Singapore.
