Before we continue, it is worth remembering that we will have spoilers from the latest chapters of the Boruto manga: Naruto Next Generations. So in case you haven’t seen it yet, it’s good to take a look before you continue with the text.
Boruto 56 shows Kawaki’s groundbreaking plan to cure Boruto’s Karma mark
Kawaki sees a thoughtful Boruto, who feels helpless because no one has a solution for his situation. Kawaki shares a wildcard idea that can solve the problem: find a new carrier for his own brand.
Kawaki wants Boruto to do what Isshiki did when the villain marked him and Jigen, find a host to transfer his Karma mark; thus, once Momoshiki takes over and Boruto dies, the Hokage’s son is reborn in a new person.
Boruto is surprised that Kawaki is forcing something like this on someone. It’s distorted and immoral, but Kawaki thinks that if it’s done against a bad guy, well, it’s not that bad. The person Kawaki has in mind is Code, Ishhiki’s successor and another recipient of his Karma brand.
Code did not become the perfect host like Kawaki, but his Karma grants him the powers of Isshiki. Kawaki wants to sacrifice him to protect Boruto, as his body can take a mark. Kawaki believes that they can use Boruto’s Karma to track Code, as it allows him to bend space-time to teleport. And not only that, it will allow Boruto to transfer his brand as well.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the direct sequel to Naruto Shippuden, both in the anime and in the manga.
In this new story, we accompany Boruto, son of Naruto. Together with their teammates from Team 7, they live new adventures and interact with old and new characters from the franchise.
Although the anime is still telling the story of young Boruto, it has some good bows, bringing Naruto and Sasuke back, and stories where the young man is the main protagonist.
The first phase of the anime tells the graduation of Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki in the ninja school, as well as his first missions. After that, we have the Chunin Exam, which adapts the film Boruto: Naruto the Movie and shows how Boruto obtained Karma.
After that, we have another series of arcs that tell the development of the members of Team 7, and that gradually introduce the Kara Organization, a great antagonist of the series.
Currently, Boruto is adapting the third major arc of the manga, with the presentation of Kawaki, Kashin Koji, Jigen and other remarkable characters in the story.
The anime can be followed in full on Crunchyroll and gets new chapters every week.
