Mikael Nermark’s cancer survivor has lost his position as the former CEO. Christofer Sundberg, founder of Avalanche Studios, announced the news on his blog. Normark left his wife and three children. Mikael Nermark, the former CEO of Starbreeze Studios, has passed away at the age of 50.
Christofer Sundberg, founder and friend of Avalanche Studios, introduced this information in his blog. “On behalf of Mikael’s family, we let you know that Mikael has left due to most cancers. This is really heavy. He is an amazing husband, an amazing father, an amazing good friend, an amazing technician, he Will always be remembered in our hearts.
“For a year, Mikael has been fighting for the most cancers he has suffered, and he is exhausted. His energy in this situation is actually inspiring and provides a outlook on life for all of us. He lives every day
More important things, because it is really important, this is one thing we must always carry with us when commemorating his memories. His laughter, his guidance to us who work with him, his calmness, His message, his humor and his voice may be with us forever. It has passed, but it will never be forgotten.”
Nermark worked for Starbreeze for 11 years, and later guided the company through a profitable restructuring before he predicted to resign as CEO in October 2020. Before that, he worked for Starbreeze in the United States and briefly worked on the Overkill Software project. Among the many trade figures who paid tribute to, there was Tim Schafer, the founder of Double Nice, who mentioned that “without Mikael and Starbreeze, there would be no Psychonauts 2”.
