Two women have been arrested over the death of an eight-month-old girl after a “medical incident” at a daycare centre.
Police were called to an incident at Tiny Toes Nursery in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, on Monday afternoon.
The girl was taken to hospital, where she later died.
Greater Manchester Police said the two women, aged 35 and 34, were being held on suspicion of manslaughter.
The force described the death as “heartbreaking”.
Det Supt Phil Duffy said: “Our hearts go out to the little girl’s family, who are understandably shocked and saddened.
“We’re doing everything we can to give them the answers they deserve.
“Officers continue to work to establish the full facts and establish the circumstances.”
