The woman who jumped to her death from a downtown high-rise building on Sunday was former Miss America Chesley Christ, law enforcement sources told The Washington Post.

The 2019 pageant winner and 30-year-old attorney jumped from the 60-story Orion building at 350 West 42nd Street at about 7:15 a.m. and was found dead on the street below, sources said.
Christ, who lives on the ninth floor of the building, was alone when he jumped off the building and was last seen on the 29th-floor terrace, sources said.
The former Miss North Carolina, who took top honors at the 2019 Miss America pageant, competed in national costume in a sparkly winged outfit, a tribute to Maya Angelo’s “I Know Why the Bird in the Cage sings” ” tribute.
Just hours before she jumped, Krist wrote on her Instagram page: “May this day bring you rest and peace.”

According to police, the former Miss America left a note giving everything to her mother without explaining her cause of death.

The source said she left a note saying she wanted to leave everything to her mother. The source said the note did not include a motive for her actions.
“She’s not only beautiful but smart – she’s a lawyer,” a police source said. “She lived a life that anyone would be jealous of. …so sad.”
