The Death of Christy Fletcher – Christy Fletcher, a certified K-9 trainer, animal rescuer and former OVC announcer, has passed away. Lancaster, Pennsylvania resident Christie Fletcher died on Tuesday at around 10:57 a.m. surrounded by loved ones. Christie Fletcher was a live OVC guest for years. She has a great sense of humor, is very loving and loyal, and loves her puppies. The cause of death was not released.

Christy Fletcher’s early life
Christy Fletcher is a graduate of Lakeside High School. After high school, she studied broadcast journalism and mass communication at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. She is a former OVC announcer and award-winning journalist and TV news anchor. In 1998, she won the Gracie Allen Award for Women in Radio Television for “People in Power,” the story she wrote and produced about the most successful independent women entrepreneurs in Austin, Texas.
Christie’s love of animals
Her love for animals, especially dogs, continued to grow throughout her life. While pursuing her broadcasting career, she also pursued her long-term dream of becoming a certified K-9 trainer. Many items were inspired by finding her stray puppy Tampa. Together, they have earned certification in search and rescue and animal therapy, and have helped abandoned and neglected pets find new homes. Christie co-founded Crane’s Critters in 2004 with a Sarasota radio station. Under Christie’s leadership, Crane’s Critters has become one of the most successful adoption programs in the country, finding permanent homes for thousands of animals.
