In his post, the former Stereo Kicks member wrote that while he was “totally heartbroken” by the loss of Hampson, he “did everything” to serve the children. “I won’t be a sign that you’ve become a parent, but I promise I’ll do everything in my power to raise Bowie the way we’ve always wanted,” Mann wrote. “I promise he’ll know how great his mother is. I promise to make you so proud.”
Mann described Hampson as “the most beautiful person inside and out” and “the most incredible soul”, and candidly admits he would be sad “for a very, very long time.” He continued: “My dear Dany, the brightest light in every room, without you, my world is nothing but darkness. I will miss you forever.”
Mann initially auditioned for The X Factor in 2013, before returning the following year. He and four other British talent show contestants were accepted by a boy band and ended up finishing fifth. After the Stereo Kicks disbanded in July 2015, Mann released music as a solo artist and served as songwriter and producer for the likes of Rita Ora and Lewis Capaldi.
Hampson regularly shares her support for her fiancé’s career on social media. In April, in honor of Bowie’s 6-month-old, she recorded a clip of Mann serenading Elton John’s songs “Cold Heart” and “Rocket Man.”
