Police officer Matt Faber was shot in the back by a shotgun in the back while responding to an animal complaint on the 2900 block of Arthington Boulevard 9 days ago.After talking to the complainant, Officer Faber crossed the street to talk to the dog owner. Subject began arguing with Officer Faber, then ran into his house. When the reserve personnel arrived, they tried to enter the house to arrest the man. The man tried to block the door, then retrieved a No. 12 shotgun when the police entered. After seeing the armed object, the police tried to retreat from the home, but the man opened fire and hit the back of Officer Faber.Subject was fired back and wounded. He was subsequently charged with murder, but pleaded guilty to a lesser crime of unintentional homicide and was sentenced to only seven years in prison.
Officer Faber worked for the Indianapolis Police Department for more than a year. His wife survived, and he also served in the Indianapolis Police Department.
