EBANIE BRIDGES stripped down to her underwear in this afternoon’s showdown with Maria Cecilia Roman. The Australian will challenge Roman Reigns in Leeds on Saturday night for the IBF women’s bantamweight title as part of a rematch between Josh Warrington and Kiko Martinez.
She wore nothing but the cradle and the final duel with Roman. Bridges has had no problem gaining weight—under 118 pounds. She made sure to make some quick poses before facing the defending champion.
Bridges’ weigh-in outfit was deemed inappropriate by some, including former nemesis Shannon Courtenay, who said: “Hard work and dedication bring you here, not showing off your body. But Bridges ignored critics’ comments about her outfit, recently telling Steve Bunce: “People really like it – I don’t care.
“I am who I am. I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say, I wear what I want, and I want others to do the same.
“In the UK, people like people who work hard and I think people see that.
“I really appreciate my fans, if it wasn’t for my fans, I wouldn’t be here.
“When I work out, I always stand on stage in a thong like I’m in a boxing ring.
“I did this for 10 years, and women’s martial arts didn’t become legal until 2008, and I got deep into my bodybuilding career – and then I started boxing after I was done, and I wanted to try it out.
“If you don’t like it, don’t look at my cradle. I don’t care to tell the truth because I’m not going to change.
“I love the weigh-in, it’s a cool day and the start of the fight. I have a lot of fun.”
The 35-year-old insisted she didn’t deliberately sexualize the sport, telling The I: “I don’t use sex to sell, I just use myself, and if I’m sexy, fuck it. .
“It’s great to see girls doing makeup and dressing up now. I’m breaking the stereotype of women’s boxing.”
