Wilmington, North Carolina (WECT) – According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, New Hanover High School students will be sent to Williston High School after Monday’s shooting.
A tweet from the Sheriff’s Office read: “Once the school has done an accurate count, parents will need to pick up their children at the MLK center.”
Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jerry Brewer said a student was shot and taken to hospital. Police closed a portion of Market Street near the school. The New Hanover County School said the high school is currently closed.
“New Hanover High School is currently closed,” the school system said in a press release. “We ask families and community members not to go to the building. Law enforcement is currently on the scene.” As we learn more, please keep this story.
