The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office sends its thoughts and prayers to Jackson County Deputy Lena Marshall. Deputy Marshall was shot in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call. Deputy Marshall is currently receiving medical treatment.

A woman shot Marshall, severely wounding her. Marshall died at about 4 pm on Monday. The funeral has not been arranged yet. The second deputy fired back and killed the gunman. She was identified as Jessica Worsham, 43 years old. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation stated that the owner of the house had asked Worsham to leave. Marshall is still in a critical condition in the hospital. Tom Reagan on Channel 2 learned that Marshall had been hit several times.

Reagan spoke with Lieutenant Randy Sutton (retired), who founded the Wounded Blue Organization, which helped thousands of wounded and disabled officers, and is now working to help Deputy Marshall and his family. Sutton said: “I can’t tell you how I grieve for her family and pray for her to survive.” “She needs all our thoughts and prayers now. All law enforcement officers join us in praying for her.” This is the 84th shooting incident involving a police officer investigated by GBI so far this year.
