The league announced Thursday that the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) suspended London Cavaliers player Logan Mailloux indefinitely.
According to a league statement, commissioner David Blanche made the decision due to an incident in Sweden in November 2020, when the defender was loaned out to SK Lejon.
It was during this period that Mailloux was investigated for allegedly distributing photos of a woman and himself engaging in sexual acts. This photo was taken without the woman’s consent.
In a July statement, the London Cavaliers stated: “The team is aware of the situation involving Mailloux and team personnel are working with Logan to help him better understand his actions, the consequences of his actions, and ensure that that this does not happen ”. . It’s happening again. “
Blanche stated that this incident violated the league’s expectations for the proper behavior of OHL players.
As of January 1, 2022, Mailloux will have the opportunity to request a refund from OHL.
OHL’s statement continued: “The decision to reinstate his employment will be based in part on his behavior after returning to Canada and the appropriate treatment, counseling, orientation or education that he received on the date of this decision.”
CTV News has contacted the London Cavaliers and Mailloux, both declining to comment.
