Yesterday, four additional individuals, including the primary suspect Huirem Herodas Meitei, were apprehended for their participation in the aforementioned incident. In response, the women residing in Petchi Village took action by setting fire to Herodas’s residence.

According to a statement from the government, a total of 126 checkpoints were established across various regions, encompassing both hill areas and valley regions. During these operations, the police apprehended a total of 413 individuals for committing various violations.

The state government has made a plea to the public, urging them to refrain from giving credence to any unfounded rumors. In order to verify the authenticity of circulating videos, a special helpline number, 9233522822, has been established. Additionally, the government has called upon individuals to surrender any stolen firearms, ammunition, or explosives to the police or the nearest security personnel.

According to N Biren Singh, he expressed his government’s strong disapproval of the viral video depicting the shameful act of two women being publicly humiliated by a group of men.

The condemnation is extensive throughout the entire state, encompassing both the valley and hills regions. The citizens of the state hold women in high regard, viewing them as mothers. Regrettably, our reputation has been marred by the actions of a few wrongdoers,” Mr. Singh expressed, emphasizing that the public is calling for the harshest possible punishment for those responsible. In a demonstration of solidarity, the Chief Minister himself participated in a protest held in his own Heingang Assembly constituency, denouncing the viral videos.

Describing the event as a “crime against humanity,” Biren Singh has vowed that every possible measure will be taken by the authorities to apprehend those responsible.

The release of the viral video, just one day prior to the start of Parliament’s monsoon session, was met with skepticism by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He raised concerns about the timing and suggested that political motives may have been at play in the video’s leak.

According to his assertion, there is a significant disparity in the prevalence of rape cases between opposition-controlled states such as West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, and BJP-controlled Manipur, as well as other provinces in the northeastern region.

The registration of the case pertaining to the incident occurred quite some time ago, and there is existing footage of it. Interestingly, the video was leaked just one day before the Parliament session began. Consequently, it is apparent that there are political elements at play in this situation, as stated by the individual.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally addressed the issue of the Manipur violence, expressing his deep emotions of sorrow and fury upon watching the distressing video.

Making reference to events in the states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, both governed by the Congress party, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order. In his appeal, he urged all Chief Ministers to take necessary measures to reinforce the stability and security within their respective states.

Instead of attempting to draw false comparisons with states governed by Congress, you could have addressed the issue at hand by taking appropriate action within your own state of Manipur. This would have been a more productive response, as suggested by his tweet.
