Mia Goodwin dead and Obituary – cause of death

With a heavy heart, we ask you to donate and pray for the family of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Mia Goodwin. Officer Goodwin worked in the College City branch of CMPD and took maternity leave just after the birth of her third child. In the early morning of December 22, 2021, a tractor-trailer crashed into a terrible vehicle on Interstate 85. Officer Mia was killed, leaving her three children and her husband as a firefighter. We are raising donations to help her children and husband survive the tragic loss of their beloved mother and wife.

According to CMPD chief Johnny Jennings, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was killed in a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 85 in northeast Charlotte earlier on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at about 3:40 am on the southbound lane near Exit 45 of W.T. Harris Boulevard and appeared to involve a tractor trailer and at least two Charlotte-Mecklenburg police station vehicles.

Just before 8:30 in the morning, Director Jennings wrote on Twitter: “I share with a heavy heart the death of CMPD officer Mia Goodwin.”

Jennings said that Officer Goodwin serves the College City branch. He asked the community’s thoughts and prayers.

“Rest in peace hero, we have surveillance here,” the chief said.

The Charlotte Fire Department issued a statement on Twitter, saying: “Men and women of ALARM, don’t worry, heroes, you are proud and selfless to serveā€¦In this sad and difficult time, we stand with you.”
