Several images that appear to be from Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer kit have surfaced online after being discovered in Warzone Mobile’s files.
The images, which have now been removed, were originally posted by @R3AL1TYUK, a Twitter account suspended by Activision following multiple alleged DMCA takedowns.
In the Imgur rehost of these images (via Charlie Intel) you can see the cards and their names. The first of the multiplayer map images is for a location called “Grand Prix”. As the name and image suggest, it happens around the track.
The second “oil field” is equally self-explanatory. The third map image is called “Museum,” but it’s unclear if this refers only to the exterior of the building, or if most of the map will take place inside.
another card. Internally codenamed “Saba” was also posted to Twitter, but details on the map’s location were scant. The slums are most likely a remake or reinterpretation of the map Modern Warfare 2 (2009), which also takes place in the slums of Brazil. Alongside this leak, images from Black Ops 5 have also reportedly been spotted.
Images posted online may suggest the game was played during the Gulf War. Activision recently confirmed that the release date for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is October 28, 2022.
The publisher claims there will be a globetrotting campaign, multiplayer games and an “evolved” special ops mode. Activision has officially announced that Warzone 2.0 will be released later this year.
The publisher confirmed in April that Modern Warfare 2, led by developer Infinity Ward, is building out a new free-to-play Warzone experience.
