Ryan Olson dead and obituary, whats happened? Accident and cause of death

A car crash in Rexburg killed the local husband and father of three on Monday morning.

Ryan Olson, 37, of Rigby, died in a five-vehicle collision that sent multiple victims to hospital. Within hours of his death, friends created a GoFundMe page to help Olson and his family as his unexpected death resulted in unplanned expenses.

“There’s no brighter light than after Ryan Olson,” wrote GoFundMe. “No matter what you’re going through, Ry’s hug makes you feel better. He holds everyone up! He holds everyone together. Adhesive. We’ve missed him so much.”

The Idaho State Police report said the accident happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of North 2nd East and Moody Road.

Olson was driving his 2015 Toyota Corolla when he was rear-ended by 29-year-old Jamie Curtis of Rexburg, who was driving a 2011 Honda Pilot. The collision sent Olsen and his car into a canal. He died on the spot.

Rexburg’s Brian McRae, 42, drove a Dodge Ram, Roberts’ Jenina Smith, 59, drove a 1997 Honda Civic, and Blackford’s Jalyn Inskip, 24, drove a 2004 Chevrolet Mali Cloth, the ISP said after the chain reaction accident, the initial conflict.

An ambulance took Curtis to Madison Memorial Hospital. The road was blocked for nearly four hours.

Idaho State Police continue to investigate the crash. They were assisted by the Rexburg Police Department and the Madison Fire Department.
