Schererville Shooting, Alleged shooting in Schererville Indiana.
Schererville is a city located in St. John’s, Lake County, Indiana, United States. At the 2020 Census, the population was 29,646. This is a Chicago suburb just 30 miles south of the city.
Long before Indiana became a state, long before Schelerville was formed, people called the area “the crossroads” because it was where several Native American trails intersected, and later became a carriage route for westbound settlers.
One of these settlers was Nicholas Scherer, who was born in Scheuern in 1830, now part of Tholey, Saarland, in southwestern Germany, and came to the United States in 1846. When he came to this place at the southern end of Lake Michigan in 1865, he founded the community that bears his name.
To this day, the trails of Schererville still cross, the modern trails of America’s motorized society. Highways 41 and 30. The newer trails I-80/94 and I-65 are nearby. All of these were the main transcontinental routes and gave Schelleville its slogan: “The Crossroads of the Nation”.
