Shelby Scott dead and obituary, Former WBZ TV host and reporter – cause of death

Shelby Scott was a true pioneer and absolutely tremendous reporter and person. Also, her work at @sagaftra was exemplary. She was a leader and a first class person who taught me a great deal. She was an icon in Boston and will be missed. RIP friend and colleague.

Former WBZ TV host and reporter Shelby Scott has died at the age of 86. Scott worked at WBZ from 1965 until his retirement in 1996.

She came to WBZ from Seattle to host the Noon News, eventually becoming half of America’s first all-female anchor team in 1977 with Gail Harris.

She became a legend in storm coverage, prompting the Boston Globe to jokingly measure snowfall in “Shelby” instead of feet.

After retiring, she returned to WBZ to cover major storms, including the 1997 April Fool’s Blizzard.
