This would be the winner in a confrontation between Itachi and Kisame in Naruto Shippuden

Kisame and Itachi are one of the most interesting pairs of Akatsuki from Naruto Shippuden. However, comparing the two in terms of strength can be quite a tricky task at times.

In fact what we are going to try to do today is to imagine that we would win if a confrontation between Itachi Uchiha and Kisame were to happen.

At a certain point in the anime, Kisame states that he probably wouldn’t be able to handle Jiraiya, but believes that Itachi could beat him without problems. This made some fans start to imagine that this was a statement from Kisame admitting to being weaker than Itachi, which is not quite the case.

The truth is, if Kisame were to face Itachi with Samehada, he would probably win easily.

That’s because Samehada could easily absorb the entire chakra from Itachi’s fire attacks, as well as Susanoo himself. Something that would reduce the arsenal of the Uchiha prodigy to practically taijutsu and genjutsu.

This is where another problem comes in: by being able to merge with Samehada, Kisame becomes practically a perfect Jinchuriki, which makes him immune to genjutsus. Even though we’re talking about itachi Uchiha.

Perhaps Itachi’s only hope lay in the use of Izanagi or Shisui’s own ability, should he decide to beat Kisame at all costs.

It is worth remembering that Kisame’s victory would be certain if he wielded Samehada. Something that is really hard to imagine if he didn’t carry the sword with him.
