This weekend the first date of the 2021 calendar of MotoGP and left several threads to stand out. One of them is the new speed record that was recorded at the Losail circuit, set by the Ducati of the team Pramac. Johann Zarco clocked 362.4 kilometers per hour. However, this weekend they will be looking for more: «We can reach 400 kilometers«.
The last record was held Andrea Dovizioso, with 356.7 kilometers per hour. However, Zarco went further and thanks to the aerodynamics of the Ducati and the strong engine of the Italian brand, he managed to break that record. This weekend, on the same circuit, these teams will be the main candidates for victory, although they will have to take care of the Yamaha.
Michele Pirro, Ducati team test driver, warned rivals of Yamaha for this weekend, and assured that although this weekend’s record is incredible, they can reach a higher speed if they have optimal conditions. In addition, he assured that they will look for a test to be able to reach 400 kilometers per hour on a long straight.
“If you take into account that in Qatar the straight is little more than a kilometer and that the curve is slow, that means that in about 800 meters you go from 80 to 360 kilometers per hour,” analyzed Pirro, who added that if the straight had 500 meters more could reach a great mark. “If you don’t have to worry about making curves, you can go up to 400 without problems, easy.”
Ducati in Qatar
Last weekend the Ducati team was one of the dominators of the Qatar Grand Prix. Those of the Bologna brand dominated all the sessions of the weekend. However, the lack of speed in the corners and trouble braking made the Yamaha make a difference in the race. This Sunday, Ducati will seek to solve these problems and dominate the entire Grand Prix.
