Yesterday I reported that Bell Media reduced to NEWSTALK 1010. Today I am very upset to share the news that Tom Brown and Anwar Knight are no longer in CTV Toronto. They are dismissals on the two screens I know, but the vast majority of clips are people working behind the scenes.
This is a biography of Tom Brown from the CTV news website. He is the weather anchor for CTV News Toronto.
Tom Brown is the most important weather anchor in Toronto, providing weather reports for CTV News and CTV News at 6 o’clock every day.
Brown joined CTV News Toronto in 2004. Prior to this, he worked in several Canadian broadcast markets including Moncton, Winnipeg and Regina for 18 years before having the opportunity to enter the television industry. After serving as the weather anchor for Regina TV Network, Brown decided that TV belonged to him and would never look back.
His live real-time weather broadcast in the Greater Toronto Area has become his hallmark, as Brown provides the latest news on various community events and festivals, showcasing everything Toronto has to offer. Brown conducted a live weather broadcast with three Canadian prime ministers.
Brown has many highlights in his career, but he is most proud of the annual Toy Mountain Campaign held with the Salvation Army, which raised millions of dollars in toys and donations for children throughout the GTA . When he received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work in the Variety Village, his efforts were recognized. His community work also won Brown the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award.
Anwar Knight is called the weather anchor, and this is his resume. Anwar Knight is a proud Canadian broadcaster and blogger who calls himself “weather weenie”. Anwar Knight joined the CTV News Toronto team as a weekend weather reporter in 2007 and transitioned to CTV News to report on the weather at noon in 2009. Anwar is honored to be an integral part of Toronto’s number one news broadcast.
He presided over the local morning news briefing, followed by live coverage of GTA’s various community activities through CTV News at noon, while providing his always fascinating predictions.
As a regular co-host of CANADA AM, Canada’s highest-rated national morning news magazine, his wit and humor are also shown nationwide.
As a graduate of Humber College’s broadcast journalism, Anwar began his career as a radio DJ and talk show comedian. His enthusiastic and energetic personality has become the favorite of listeners and audiences across the country.
Before joining CTV News Toronto, Anwar cut into the weather in the Weather Network, Global TV and Oasis HD.
In 2010, Anwar was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As a fighter and eternal optimist, Anwar’s challenge is not only to get better, but to become a catalyst for change especially in cancer. His blog Anwar’s Journey: A Hodgepodge of Optimists records his path to recovery and helped launch a new support program. Hope Happens is a national support network designed to inspire and empower people who are newly diagnosed with cancer and those who support them.
Anwar donates his spare time to many charities, including: he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Lymphoma Foundation, the Canadian Boys and Girls Club, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Study Breakfast.
As a travel enthusiast, Anwar explored some of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, such as the Florida Everglades and the tropical rainforests of Costa Rica.
