Johnny Yong Bosch is an American actor, musician, singer and martial artist. His first starring role was as Adam Parker, the second Black Power Rangers, and later the Green Zeo Ranger and the first Green Turbo Ranger in the Power Rangers series, which led to roles in several martial arts TV and feature films . Based in Los Angeles, Bosch does most of his voiceover work at Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Animaze, New Generation Pictures, NYAV Post, Studiopolis, and the occasional trip to Dallas to record shows for Funimation. Bosch was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Garland, Texas as John Jay Bosch. His father, a soldier, met his mother while he was stationed in South Korea. He has been interested in martial arts since childhood and was inspired by martial arts movies and Bruce Lee. He initially taught himself martial arts and imitated the moves of Lee and Jackie Chan. Bosch said he was often ridiculed as a bully when he was young, but got better after learning kung fu. Besides martial arts training, he won several matches and he also played football.

Bosch auditioned for the Power Rangers show in Dallas after being told to audition by his martial arts instructor. In 1994, he played the role of the new Black Power Ranger Adam Park in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, replacing Walter Emanuel Jones. Bosch said that when he got the role, at Saban’s request, he changed his middle name to Yong, which is part of his mother’s name, and he thought his name had to be more Asian. He did all of his stunts for the feature film Power Rangers: The Movie after his stuntman broke his leg. He also noted that of all the different animal characters that have to be associated with Rangers, he is associated with frogs.

In Power Rangers Zeo, Bosch’s character becomes a green ranger. His last regular job in the franchise was Power Rangers Turbo, where his role passed his Green Turbo Ranger powers to new members. He played Adam in the second feature film, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. Reflecting on his performance for the show, Bosch said: “‘Mighty Warriors’ was fun, but it was a children’s show, so it was tacky, and it was hard to get a job after that.

And, at the time, I didn’t know anything about acting. “His best friends on set include Jason David Frank (playing Tommy Oliver), Jason Navi (playing Skeleton) and Naki Abris (playing Tanya Sloan).
