Arawin Sapesan dead and obituary, Shooting victim found in Pickering ID'd

Durham police have identified a 20-year-old man who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Pickering last week.

Just before 12.30pm, police were called to the area of ​​Taunton Road and 4 Concession Road following a crash. May 19.

When they arrived, they found the driver showing signs of trauma, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound. Police have determined that the driver was shot behind the wheel, causing the accident.

The victim was identified as Arawin Sapesan, 20, from Pickering.

Neither the suspect nor the vehicle description has been released.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area who may have seen, heard or had dashcam footage at the time of the accident to contact them.

The Homicide Squad has now taken over the investigation.
