The Chase’s Darragh Ennis leads the mourning following the death of a Beat The Chasers contestant. ITV confirmed Mike Johnson’s death on its Instagram page.

Darragh Ennis is my favourite chaser. So graceful whoever he plays against. So polite and is the only chaser that does not rush his answers in the final chase just so he can beat the contestants and make them lose money. Always smiling. #TheChase

Mr Johnson, pictured side by side with host Bradley Walsh, captioned: “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Mike Johnson.

“A fantastic Beat the Chasers and Chase player, our thoughts are with Mike’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

They added: “Bradley, the chasers and the production crew enjoyed meeting and spending time with Mike and making him part of the Beat The Chasers & The Chase family.”
