Siegfried and Roy Tiger attack video original, Podcast revisits Siegfried and Roy tiger attack

Siegfried & Roy are a German group of magicians and entertainers known for their white lions and white tigers. While the show usually goes well, on October 3, 2003, the show went horribly wrong. While many had heard of the accident, most were unaware that the show was videotaped.

Siegfried and Roy are getting ready for their big night at Mirage City, and they’ve already rehearsed. However, after about 45 seconds, a white tiger approached Roy and attacked him, shocking everyone in the audience. Roy fell to the stage floor and the tiger jumped on top of him. Tiger then grabbed Roy by the neck and dragged him off stage until Tiger was sprayed with a fire extinguisher. The show was quickly canceled, and Roy, bleeding on the floor, was rushed to the emergency room (he was soon discharged, albeit with impaired motor and speech skills).

Unbeknownst to the public, the Phantom recorded the entire attack. However, out of respect for Roy’s privacy and fears that the media would hype the video, Phantom refused to release the video to the public.

Back in 2019, ABC News released a documentary called Siegfried and Roy: Behind the Magic. This is the first episode of Season 42: The 20/20 segment, which revolves around the White Tiger attack during Siegfried and Roy’s magic show in 2003. The segment features Siegfried Fischbach and Roy Horn rising to fame, getting attacked by tigers that changed the entertainment entirely in Las Vegas. In the 20/20 segment, features a simulated scenario that gives you an idea of how the attack occurred on the night of October 3, 2003. You can partially watch the 20/20 documentary on the ABC News website or YouTube. However, the real-life footage is still lost forever.
