Amos Olatayo dead and obituary, Nigerian former basketball

Amos Oladayo Olatayo (born September 26, 1991 in Lagos) is a Nigerian former basketball player who has an American passport and played in the LEB Plata of the third division of the Spanish league Viten Getafe for one season. At 1.93 meters tall, he did it in the shooting guard position.

He trained at Alief Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. He was coached by Tim Martin and earned district honors as a junior and senior. He was twice named one of Houston’s best players in the All-Star Game. He helped lead the Rams to two consecutive regional championships, both as a junior and as a senior. He averaged 18 points per game as a junior and 22 points and 8 rebounds per game as a senior. He had 40 points and 12 rebounds in his best game with the Rams. He was nominated for McDonald’s All-American and was named the seventh best player in the state by TexasRoundball.com.

After graduating in 2010, he joined Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he spent one season (2010-2011) before heading to Navarro College in Waxahachie, Texas, affiliated with In the first JUCO. He played in the 2011-2012 season. For the last two years (2012-2014), he played at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in Monroe, Louisiana.
