Seth Welch and Tatiana Fusari history on Reddit, videos and photos

A Kent County woman was jailed Wednesday for murder and child molestation in the murder of her 10-month-old daughter.

Tatiana Fusari was convicted in October of murdering her daughter Mary Welch.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kent County Judge Paul J. Denenfeld sentenced her to life without parole for murder and child molestation.

Fusari’s lawyers told the court on Wednesday they would appeal her case as soon as possible.

Judge Paul Denenfeld, who oversees Fusari’s case, spoke briefly ahead of her sentencing on Wednesday, saying: “This is a tragic case that I sit by and watch. I’m not sure I understand what these parents are doing or thinking, I Think I have to say, literally watching their kids starve to death.”

Also in January 2020, Fusari’s husband, Seth Welch, was convicted of first-degree murder and child molestation in the death of his daughter.

Fusari has previously testified in court that she was abused and tortured by her husband, leaving her unable to care for little Mary.

“I think the evidence is clear that she was beaten and raped, and her then-husband gave Seth Welch a framed view,” Fusari’s attorney, Damian D. Nunzio, told FOX 17 Wednesday afternoon.

“People don’t understand the full impact – what it means … how victims of sexual assault, physical assault, emotional assault go through these things and what they have to endure every day to survive.”

During a previous court hearing, Welch’s 911 call was played, which appeared to indicate the couple put their daughter to bed around 3.30pm. The day before, she could not be checked on until around 10am the next day.

“So you’re saying it’s normal for your kids to start going to sleep around 3pm. Until 10am?” the dispatcher asked Welch on the phone.

“Yes,” he replied.

Welch told dispatchers they believed the child was dead.

“She was cold, she wasn’t breathing, she wasn’t responding,” Welch said by phone.
