Brittany Barnhill dead and obituary, Child Life Specialist

Brittany Barnhill, MS, CCLS, is a board-certified child life specialist at the Texas Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center, a clinical partnership between Dell Children’s Medical Center and UT Health Austin. She focuses on child development, providing emotional support to hospitalized children and their families to minimize stress, anxiety or psychosocial trauma. Brittany Barnhill has a master’s degree in human development and family studies and a bachelor’s degree in family and child development from Texas State University.

She completed her childhood internship at the Ascension of the Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. She also completed a pre-nursing degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During her internship at Wonder and Worries, she worked with the children of adult patients.

She is also trained in group and individual CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management). Brittany Barnhill works with Children’s Lives Disaster Relief to provide psychosocial support to children who have experienced natural and/or man-made disasters. Most recently, she has been involved in research projects focused on the effects of noise on children in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care units.

She also participates in the Nutrition and Neurodevelopment Program of the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative and leads Pediatric Palliative Care and Pediatric Delirium Research in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She is a member of the Association of Child Life Professionals and the Texas Association of Child Life Professionals. Brittany Barnhill is a Child Life Specialist at Dell Children’s Medical Center.
