Billy Ray Suggs dead and obituary, resident of Lisbon, Louisiana

LISBON – Billy Ray Suggs, a resident of Lisbon, Louisiana, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a brief illness . Billy Wray was born on July 15, 1938 in Lisbon, Louisiana. His brother, Ronnie Suggs, and parents, Reba Hood Suggs and Otis Ray Suggs, of Lisbon, Louisiana before his death. Billy Ray lives a full and unique life, finding the perfect balance between his love of his home in Claiborne Parish and his desire for adventure around the world. Surrounded by his extended loving family while holding the hand of the love of his life, Billy Ray embarks on his next great adventure.

Billy Ray Suggs has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. After starting his career at Dresser Industries as an engineer in Africa and South America, he moved with his family to Alaska and then to Trinidad. He worked in oil fields from Cairo, Egypt to West Texas. He maintained lifelong friendships and made new ones everywhere. Billy Ray worked as a petroleum engineer and drilling consultant until he was 75 years old.

Billy Ray is survived by his wife Charlotte Logan Suggs, 60, and children: Scott and Yvonne Suggs; Bill and Karen Suggs Roper and Sammy and Renee Suggs. He is loved and missed by his grandsons Kelli Suggs, Koby Suggs, Cooper Suggs, Kacie Robertson, Casey S. Roper, Sarah Roper, Cassidy Roper, Kyle Suggs, Keeley Suggs and Kaitlyn Suggs. Pepaw’s love of basketball continues through his great-grandchildren, Kady and Kade Suggs.

The family of Billy Ray Suggs would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Willis Knighton North Hospital for their support during their loved one’s illness They provide compassionate care. We also want Dr. Salmon and the Homer Memorial Hospital staff thank him for his recent care.

The visitation will be at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2pm. A memorial service will be held at the same location at 2:30 p.m.
