Henry McDonald dead and obituary, Tributes paid to Belfast journalist

Tributes have been paid tonight for Belfast journalist Henry McDonald, who died after a battle with cancer over the weekend. Henry, a father of three, is a well-known figure in the Northern Ireland media scene, but is best known as an Irish reporter for The Observer and The Guardian.

A lifelong and passionate supporter of Cliftonville and Everton, the 57-year-old has also written two novels – The Swinging Detective and Two Souls – as well as several books on Northern Ireland. The Book of Trouble and Paramilitary Organizations. Former Irish Senator Mairia Cahill paid tribute to the reporter, saying: “I am saddened to hear of the death of Henry Macdonald. interest in everything.”

Tonight his beloved Cliftonville released a statement saying: “Cliftonville Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of its longtime supporter Henry McDonald.

“Henry, a respected journalist and well-known author, has been a regular at Solitude for decades and his recent battle with illness has certainly not stopped him from supporting his beloved Reds.

“Our deepest condolences to Henry’s family and many friends at this very difficult time. Rest in peace.”
