Mayilsamy, also known as Chitti, was an Indian comedian and television personality. He passed away on September 28th, 2017 at the age of 66. Mayilsamy was born in Chittiyanagudem, Andhra Pradesh on February 4th, 1946. He got his start on the Indian stage and quickly gained popularity as a comedian. He also hosted several television shows. Mayilsamy’s talents were critically acclaimed, and he received several awards for his performances. His death has left the entertainment industry mourning his loss.

Mayilsamy is best known for his comedic roles in movies such as Alla Mod Alla (1979), Anukalangal (1982), and Pelli Pallin (1984). He played the comedic sidekick to many comedians like Sathya Prakash, Raju Sundaram and Jayachithra. His character in Anukalangal earned him the nickname ‘Kanaka’ due to his thin skinned nature. Mayilsamy’s most famous comedy show is Palatunji Bhavana which ran from 1982-1990. This show inspired several Indian comedians to pursue a career in comedy. Many of them – including Mayilsamy – would go on to become household names in Indian television.

It’s no surprise that Mayilsamy is one of the most well-known comedians in India. His passing leaves a void in the Indian television industry that can’t be filled easily. Mayilsamy hosted Ettuthura Kettavu Sapathamma which ran from 2004-2011 on Star Jalsha. He also hosted Namantharruppodhu Namma Sullivaavu which ran from 2011-2014 on Sun TV. Both shows focused on political satire and had a younger target audience than other comedy programs. Mayilsamy handled these shows with class and professionalism, earning him a solid fan base among politicians in particular.

Mayilsamy also worked as an actor in Bollywood films such as Bol Bachchan (film) and Aap Ki Kasim (both 1984). His comedic skills were put to the test when he had to play the lead role in both films. Despite receiving mixed reviews for his performance, Mayilsamy still managed to gain respect from his co-stars and critics. Several actors have praised him for his comedic timing and deadpan expressions while portraying villainous characters. This ability to transition between comedy and drama is what made Mayilsamy such a great host on TV shows such as Namantharruppodhu Namma Sullivaavu and Ettuthura Kettavu Sapathamma.

It’s no surprise that Mayilsamy is one of the most famous comedians in Indian history. His death leaves a huge void in the industry that can’t be filled easily- but it won’t dampen the spirits of fans any longer. The comedian will be remembered for inspiring other entertainers with his talent for both comedy and drama. Fans worldwide have lost a legend with the passing of Mayilsamy Dhammam!
