Tysons Corner Center shooting today, active shooter news now

Officers are in the area of Fashion Blvd in McLean for an officer-involved shooting. Preliminarily, one man was shot in the upper body outside the mall & taken to hospital w/injuries considered life-threatening. No officers injured. Avoid the area. Updates to follow. #FCPD

A man was shot and killed by police outside the Tysons Corner Center mall.

Frantic police radio transmissions were cut short after officers from Tyson’s city team tracked down a suspect in the parking lot outside the Bloomingdale’s department store at around 6:30 p.m. The suspect then reportedly entered woods along Fashion Avenue before police radioed that shots had been fired.

Initial reports indicated that CPR was performed on the man who was shot in the chest. Police said his injuries were life-threatening and said on social media that no officers were injured.

Fashion Blvd was closed to traffic and a police helicopter flew overhead.
