Ashton Smith dead, Ashton Smith of Du Quoin obituary and death Prospect League and the baseball

The Prospect League and the baseball community mourn the sudden loss of one of its players, Ashton Smith. The Prospect League family sends its deepest, most heartfelt condolences to his family, teammates, and loved ones. Tonight’s game in Thrillville has been cancelled.

Earlier today, the Thrillbillies Organization learned of the tragic passing of Ashton Smith of Du Quoin. As a catcher and leader, Ashton was beloved and respected by his Thrillbillie teammates. Tonight’s game has been cancelled in remembrance of Ashton.

3-star candidate in the 247Sports Composite…ranked 216th player nationally, 30th center in the state…ranked 10th in Texas…3-starred by Rivals, 33rd center in the state…transferred to Traditional Sports Science Academy after starting high school at Nimitz University.

Played for three different schools, all at a high level. Retired from the Memphis Southwinds to play for Paul Edwards…helped the Jaguars go 20-8 to the top 10 at all levels of the state.

Averaging 21.2 points and 6.1 assists, earned Tennessee Class AAA third-team All-State honors…15-AAA District Most Valuable Player…2018-19 National Basketball Festival Tournament MVP.

Played for Lausanne in Memphis and National Power Findlay Prep in Las Vegas before finishing his high school career at Southwind, where he was listed as a two-star candidate.

Won the 2017 TSSAA Division II-A title in Lausanne…shot 6-of-7 free throws in the final quarter of the championship game to earn All-Tour honors with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals…won game and 1 layup to secure semifinal win over rival Harding Academy.

Before Findlay finished his junior year, he averaged 22 points and 8 assists at the University of Lausanne. Formerly with the Bluff City Legends and Team Penny in the AAU…Averages 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 13 games with the Legends.
