Bahama breeze jacksonville center shooting news today, active shooter

Several viewers told Jax that there was a reported heavy police presence in St. John’s town center.

According to witnesses, several police cars and officers with guns were seen at the scene near the Bahamas Breeze.

Action News Jax travels to the crime scene in an effort to gather more information about the reasons for the police activity. Few details have been provided so far.

Bahama Breeze, a Darden concept, is a nine-brand specialty restaurant company with 1,850 restaurants in the United States.

Sierra Baumle, director of marketing for Buffalo Construction Inc., said the general contractor has worked with Darden since its founding with Texas Roadhouse in 1997 and continues to work with other Darden-owned restaurant chains.

“Buffalo Construction and Darden have had a longstanding partnership. We have built most of their concepts in each state, including Olive Garden, Long Horn, Yard House, Eddie V’s, Cheddar’s and The Capital Grille, but This is our first Bahama Breeze,” Baumle shared. “We specialize in restaurants, hotels and hospitality, retail and fuel, have served our partners for over 26 years and always strive to make it better.”

The completed building will be an 11,000-square-foot restaurant with a terrace, bar and private dining room, Baumle confirmed to the Greater Fayetteville Business Journal, and the project’s architect is DP3 Architects.

Bahama Breeze is an island-themed restaurant and bar offering Caribbean-inspired cuisine, handcrafted tropical beverages and a vibrant island vibe with live music filled with “island energy”. Bahama Breeze currently has only one other location in Raleigh, North Carolina.
