Former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd turned himself in to police on the morning of Sept. 6 in Greenville, South Carolina, on charges related to an assault that occurred in July.

Romando Dixon of the Greenville News reported Wednesday that the charges against Boyd were dismissed.

Police issued a warrant for Boyd on Sept. 2, Dixon reported. The complainant in the case came forward after speaking with an attorney about the incident at a local nightclub.

According to the Greenville News, a police report filed based on the complainant’s statement stated that Boyd got into an altercation with the doorman at On The Roxx after being told he had to wait in line. After being told to leave, he allegedly nudged the bouncer, causing a woman who was lying on the ground to be knocked over.

The 25-year-old quarterback is currently a free agent after stints in the NFL and CFL. He was selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2014 draft and has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Skylarks.

Boyd played 47 games in four years for South Carolina at Clemson. He left the Tigers as the program’s all-time leader in passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107). He also helped the team win the 2011 ACC Championship and the 2014 Orange Bowl.

Boyd announced in May that he would be attending a new soccer academy in the Greenville area, TigerNet’s David Hood reported. The quarterback was cut by the Skylarks in June and has yet to sign with any other team.
