After completing high school at Glenn Hills High in 1977, Tarver earned a political science degree from Augusta College in 1981. Following military service in the Army, where he rose to the rank of field artillery captain, he embarked on a legal journey, graduating from the University of Georgia’s law school in 1991.

Tarver’s legal career soared, culminating in his appointment as U.S. attorney in 2009. Known for his principled approach and integrity, he navigated the complexities of the legal arena with distinction. A partner at Augusta law firm Hull Barrett, Tarver’s commitment to justice and public welfare defined his professional trajectory.

Beyond the courtroom, Tarver immersed himself in civic roles, embodying a spirit of community service. From chairing the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce to leading the Leadership Georgia Foundation’s Board of Trustees, his impact resonated across diverse spheres, reflecting his dedication to Augusta and its people.
