The senseless murder of a popular and well-loved veterinarian has shocked the small town of Burlington on the eastern Colorado plains. Locals were further concerned to learn that one of the perpetrators was Cynthia’s stepson Dylan Ethan. In April 2016, police found Cynthia, 50, beaten to death in her home. Despite being only 19 years old, Eason Chan has repeatedly broken the law. Community members knew he was a troublemaker but were surprised that he actually appealed to murder.

Jon Eason told the outlet: “As for me, I don’t have a son anymore. I think they both should face the death penalty.” He also claimed he lost his son “years ago”.

Instead of facing death, Dylan Eason was sentenced to life without parole after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery. Churchwell pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 52 years in prison.

Gina Hall’s body was never found, but Virginia still concluded that the evidence against Stephen Epley was so overwhelming that he must have murdered the 18-year-old college student.
